Fiya Angelou (Dr. Michelle Allen) is the hypothetical love child of Carter G. Woodson and Nicki Minaj. She is the mashup of Negro Spirituals and Organized Noize.  Fiya Angelou is Nina Simone’s soul lyrics over crunk music bass lines.

Her research cognates are Black Cultural Studies, Black Feminist Thought, Critical Race Feminism, and Queer Studies with a focus on representation, intersectionality, and space/place. 


An academic and cultural creative , Fiya Angelou is able to advocate for marginalized groups in a way that is informative, entertaining, and some times comedic. Born and raised at the intersection of the hood and suburbs of Atlanta, GA she is the blend of book smarts with a dash of street. An Academic Doctor, A budding DJ, avid consumer of Hip Hop culture, Black Feminist, and culture commentator, Fiya Angelou layered and perfectly complicated.
